01.02.10

The first update in a while as I've been busy working on some extended projects recently. There a number of new pieces featured on the site, in nearly every section. Those who follow me on twitter may have seen a number of these already. Since the last update I have worked for the pleasant people at Subvert magazine on an interview featuring the rock biographer Anthony Bozza (has written for Slash, ACDC, Eminem amongst others), the work for this can be seen to your right.

In other news, I have been selected for the AOI Images 34 book which I'm very happy about. Scotophobia and A Name But No Horse made the cut for this years book and exhibition so well done them. I am now also represented by Lemonade Illustration Agency who have been very helpful and proactive.

This year expect St.Georgia to take full flight in her first comic book adventure and also a new collective project featuring Benjamin Mounsey aka Green Glasses amongst others. This website will also be glossed up and much easier and exciting to use in the coming months (and packed with free and reasonably priced goodies)

It's cold in my house!

I've been having a lot of fun with illustration in the last couple of months and work is starting to appear from all angles. The editorial section is largely revamped with new work as well as a minor addition to the children's section with a preview of the St. Georgia comic. This will probably warrant it's own section soon as I'm working frantically on it. The Night Draws In remains in pencil sketch form for the moment, maybe this will be the month to get it going again!

In the real world I've begun volunteering at the University of Gloucestershire on their excellent Illustration course which is good fun and am beginning a business diploma which should be useful if not a little dull. Turnovers just suggest cake to me. Aside from this, I should be featured in the showcase section of this month's Digital Arts magazine but have yet to find a copy to prove this.

Hello everybody,

This latest update brings some new work to the narrative section and the piece to your right works its way into the editorial page. The past month has seen more writing than drawing as I prepare for a new children's book and new comic book ideas, including the development of St. Georgia and her merry adventures (see link in 04.05.09 entry).

I am interviewed in this months edition of Mac User magazine where I discuss illustration matters and gossip about celebrity fashion (not sure if that made it in though). They kindly included a plethora of illustrations from oneself also which I shall include on my flickr page (linked on the top right of the website).

That's it for now, a proper blog page for the site will be appearing very soon so I can inform you of my favourite vegetables, hats and all manner of irrelevant information then.

This month I bring to you some changes to the editorial section with three new pictures. I've been preparing mailouts this month so that explains the lack of updates. I'm also working on an 'alterego' portfolio coming in August and preparing for adventures in animation.
There are three new pieces up including the image to your right, which looks back on the late Clement Freud's love of racehorses. Also featured is an updated version of 'Scotophobia', an illustration about the fear of the dark and a bright and colourful promo for the return of the ABC series 'Ugly Betty'.

Since the last update I have been featured on the excellent new website Ilikecharacters.com and have been attempting to be social through my blog and this twitter thing.

These chaps to your right would like you to go have a look at the latest Night Draws In cartoon, which is about the importance of your name and its associations when you were young. Robin Hood was important to me as it counteracted the taunts of 'Robin Redbreast' that were oh-so-hurtful in my infant years!

If you're looking for St. Georgia from the previous post, she has now moved here temporarily whilst I build a brand new 'characters' page. The downloads and shop pages shouldn't be too far behind.

All the best,

Robin

As it is St. George's day I've updated with a new character to brighten up an occasion that's pretty much a non-event (compared to the St. Patrick's hootenanny). Also it's my sister's birthday on this day so I thought she might enjoy it as a birthday card.

In other news, I'm featured in the current issue of Cut-Click magazine, which was very nice of them.

Hello there. It's Spring and time for a new look website, hopefully something cleaner, crisper and altogether more practical. My work is now neatly divided into little pocket portfolios so you can get right to what you''re after.

If you have any suggestions on making the site more efficient please let me know at the email address plastered everywhere on this site, including here or by using the nifty contact form which can be found here.

Please have a little look at "The Night Draws In", a cartoon I first produced for TellMag last month, which has now given birth to a follow-up strip. This is something I will be looking to update fortnightly so keep an eye out. Maybe a handy RSS will pop up in time.

The Night Draws In was produced from childhood memories that have been exaggerated, or whose perception has been has been unknowingly fabricated, over time. Until recently, I had assumed that Richard Branson himself had taught me road safety (stop, look, listen etc.) and that dolphins swam in Gloucester's "King's Arcade" and was inconsolable when I worked back through the logic of these memories. These two tales may come up in future episodes but for now we have some tree surgery and the burial of a sibling (please don't leave, it's not as bad as it sounds) to get started with. Again, if anyone has any similar stories feel free to share.
